Sanral reintroduces toll fee collection on oThangathi Toll Plaza’s north ramps

This comes after the reopening of the M4 Tongaat River bridge last month.

The South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) has announced the reintroduction of toll fee collections at the N2 oThongathi Toll Plaza’s north ramps from January 15.

This comes after the reopening of the flood-damaged Tongaat River bridge last month.

The closure of the M4 route since the April 2022 floods necessitated the redirection of traffic onto the N2. Toll fee collections were put on hold but now that the M4 is again accessible, toll collections will resume.

“Road users now have a choice to either use the N2 or the M4. With the reopening of the Tongaat River bridge we hope communities and businesses in Zimbali, Ballito, Salt Rock, Shaka’s Head, and other locations within the KwaDukuza municipality can once again resume normal operations,” said Sanral’s Eastern Regional Manager Dumisani Nkabinde.
