Thompson Bay beach cleared of water contamination fears

Siza Water said despite power failures, they did not experience any sewage overflows at their pump stations.

Thompson Bay Beach has reopened today after being temporarily closed as a preventative measure on Thursday because of sewage contamination fears.

This followed discoloured and foul-smelling water detected in the vicinity.

Water samples were collected and sent for testing by Siza Water. The results have given the all-clear, indicating that the water is clean and safe for swimming.

Siza Water said that despite power failures, they did not experience any overflows at their pump stations.

KwaDukuza lifeguard superintendent, Bongani Xulu, confirmed the beach’s reopening.
