Ballito’s HannaB sings for needy people’s supper

Currently gearing up for her second project, HannaB plans to initiate a vegetable garden for the Northdale Blocks community in Tongaat.

At the age of 16, singer Hanna Brown – also known as HannaB – is not your typical Ballito teenager.

Instead of pursuing a musical career purely for entertainment, she is on a mission to use her talent to help those in need.

A singer for as long as she can remember, HannaB has graced various venues around the North Coast, entertaining audiences with her captivating voice.

But her journey took a more purposeful turn in April when she decided to channel her musical gift towards a noble cause.

On her 16th birthday in August she hosted a show in Ballito to raise funds for the Nourish the Children initiative.

This marked the beginning of her commitment to use her musical talent for a greater good.

Currently gearing up for her second project, HannaB plans to initiate a vegetable garden for the Northdale Blocks community in Tongaat.

While the date for this fundraising performance is yet to be decided, she anticipates it to take place in June next year at The Pumpkin Theatre in La Montagne.

The inspiration behind this project stems from a personal connection HannaB has with a family in that community.

Having known them since childhood, she witnessed the challenges they faced, particularly in accessing essential vegetables and nutrition.

The tragic passing of one family member owing to a lack of proper nutrition, fuelled HannaB’s determination to ensure no one in the community goes without access to healthy vegetables.

Despite her philanthropic efforts, HannaB is still making waves in the music industry.

She released her debut single in May last year and is currently working on her first album, slated for release next year.

Her versatility as a rising star is evident as she not only sings but also plays the guitar, piano, ukulele, drums and bass guitar.

Recognising her potential at a young age, her mother, Cherise Brown, noted her daughter’s stage presence even as a baby.

Focused on nurturing her musical talent, they connected with Marciano Mojane, a sound engineer who became more than just a mentor to HannaB, guiding her through her musical journey.
