Residents under the Umhlali Saps precinct will have an opportunity to obtain answers about crime issues directly from iLembe police commissioner, Major General Anthony Gopaul, during Saturday’s crime imbizo in Nkobongo.
Nkobongo and Shayamoya have been grappling with rising crime incidents, particularly murder, house break-ins and armed robberies.
With residents eager to articulate their concerns, a full turnout is expected at the Nkobongo community hall.
Umhlali police spokesperson, Captain Vinny Pillay, emphasised that the meeting would not be exclusive to Nkobongo residents.
Community members from Etete, Shaka’s Head, Shakaskraal, Shayamoya and Upper Tongaat are also encouraged to attend.
“Residents will be able to voice their concerns and provide suggestions to address the crime issues in their communities. With top-ranking police officials in attendance, they can expect the answers they need,” said Pillay.
The imbizo will begin at 9 am. Attendees are reminded that weapons and political attire will not be permitted.
