Woman killed in head-on crash on N2 near Zinkwazi

Four people were seriously injured, including a five-year-old boy.

Another fatal accident occurred on the N2, this time near Zinkwazi, when a female passenger died in a head-on collision last night.

The 40-year-old victim was a passenger in a blue Polo that collided with a silver SUV carrying a family of three.

Paramedics said two adults and their 5-year-old boy in the SUV suffered critical injuries.

The Polo driver was also critically injured and trapped inside his vehicle, requiring extrication by the KwaDukuza Fire Department.

IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Samantha Meyrick said the injured people were rushed to various hospitals for medical attention.

The accident caused obstruction of the northbound lanes and traffic was redirected onto the southbound lane.

Police are investigating.
