Docrra writes new chapter with Nkobongo link

A Ward 8 Docrra sub-committee has been formed, and will attempt to make inroads in dealing with the community's concerns.

Responding to a call for support, Docrra has expanded its operations to include the Nkobongo community of Ward 8.

Docrra (The Dolphin Coast Residents and Ratepayers Association) is one of the North Coast’s best known civic organisations representing a significant number of households in municipal interactions.

It was at one such meeting with the KwaDukuza municipality (KDM) – the recent Cluster A mayoral imbizo – where around 150 residents raised daily issues and concerns they experience.

Residents flagged the increase in criminal activity in wards 7, 8, 20, 23 and 28, particularly gang violence, drug-related cases, gender-based violence and theft

Access to housing, public facilities and jobs also needed addressing, they said.

A Ward 8 Docrra sub-committee has since been formed, and will attempt to make inroads in dealing with the community’s concerns.

“Docrra is here to support all residents of the Dolphin Coast. We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded residents of this community and look forward to building our relationship to tackle the issues at hand,” said Docrra vice-chairman, Deon Viljoen.

“We are all equally concerned with the lack of services and interaction with our municipality in KwaDukuza.”

Themba Ntuli will chair the sub-committee and was hopeful for what the added support might bring to Ward 8.

“We are confident that partnering with Docrra will give us the expertise to tackle the many service delivery issues facing our community – especially when it comes to access to public facilities and safety and security,” he said.
