A new shelter at Dinuphozo Primary School has given teachers a multi-use space which had previously been sorely missed.
Donated and built by Umhlali Quarry, the shelter cost R1.128-million and recently had its official handover.
The construction of the shelter follows Department of
Education (DOE) upgrades to the school to match increased demand from the community.
The DOE had planned to build the shelter but could not do so with financial constraints on the project.
Pupils and teachers were thrilled with the shelter, which can be used for assemblies, workshops and as a shaded area for breaktimes.
