As police and security on the North Coast continue to ward off rioters and looters, Shortens Estate have started a food and water collection drive to keep the officers fed and hydrated.
Many of the officers combating the riots have worked through the night to contain the situation between Ballito and KwaDukuza town.

Speaking to the Courier, Mandy Bircher of the Shortens Estate homeowners association said they would be at the estate’s main gate collecting sandwiches and water.
The drop-off will be open until 1.30pm today, however this may be extended should the need arise.
