The Thompson’s Bay lifeguard premises is getting a much needed makeover thanks to the combined efforts of Balwin Properties and KwaDukuza municipality.
Balwin is the developer behind the quick-rising Ballito Hills establishment behind the Ballito Junction, keeping a considerable local workforce employed and is set to anchor in Ballito for the next eight to 10 years in a formidable property expansion.
The magnate employed a class-leading architect to give the premises a complete internal and external revamp including the upgrade of the ablutions, showers, plumbing, roof, surfaces and other amenities as a display of commitment to the Ballito community.
Balwin is also the drive behind engineering and bricklaying courses being outlayed to the greater community as part of a social responsibility initiative that comes with being a core developer in the area.

Over the last few years there have been numerous sewage leaks into the tidal pool from the public toilets.
“We are aware that the interaction between the tidal pool and building infrastructure has been a cause for concern for many residents, and this is one which we will be addressing acutely,” announced Balwin KZN general manager Anthony Diepenbroek at a public site handover in the presence of officials from KwaDukuza municipality, acting mayor Dolly Govender and ward councillor Tammy Colley.
The site has been cordoned off from public access and will remain so until the expected completion at the end of November in time for the anticipated festive season.
“We are the fastest growing municipality in the country, and we want to continue growing at this speed in all areas of the Dolphin Coast and KwaDukuza,” said acting mayor Dolly Govender.
