IEC to tally voters this weekend

Take along your green bar coded ID book or smart ID card.

Voting stations will be open on 10 and 11 March for residents to register and to ensure all details held by the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) are correct.

Voters are urged to update residential addresses or any other information that may, if incorrect on the IEC database, disqualify them from voting in next year’s general elections.

The voting stations will be open from 8am to 5pm.

Take along your green bar coded ID book or smart ID card and note that driver’s licenses and passports will not be accepted.

Your nearest voting station can be found by visiting www.maps.elections.org.za and typing in your residential address.

If you want to find out where you are currently registered call 0800 11 8000 from Monday to Friday, between 8am-5pm.

Alternatively, SMS your ID number to 32810 to receive a replying SMS containing the address of your voting station (charged at R1) or visit www.elections.org.za/MyIEC.

The website can also be used to update and review voter details.
