Massive party at Blythedale prevents ambulance from saving dying man

More than 3000 people converged on Blythedale beach last night.

A man was stabbed and killed at Blythedale Beach last night.

Ambulances were reportedly not able to get in to assist the injured man because the roads were gridlocked with vehicles and the paramedics were threatened by unruly party-goers.

IPSS Medical Rescue’s Dylan Merick said the situation was extremely hostile.

“The ambulance was forced to withdraw after the paramedics were threatened,” said Meryick.

According to a Blythedale resident the body is still lying on the beach.

“It was very bad last night and there was a lot of alcohol use,” she said.

KwaDukuza SAPS spokesperson Johaness Khoza confirmed the murder.

” There were more than 3000 people at the beach and most where there throughout the night.

“The problem is that people are drinking at the beach and that is when the trouble starts.

“However police are now at the scene.

Khoza said he would let us know once he had more details on the murder.

Festive season parties at Blythedale are historically problematic and unruly.

Last year resident’s reported that public drinking was out of control and party-goers were seen having sex in the street.
