VIDEO: Wind rips roof off Salt Rock building

Church services at Linc church in Salt Rock were cancelled today due to the damage to the building.

Salt Rock resident Dana Beattie shared this video on Facebook yesterday of the congregated iron roof of Linc church flying off in the powerful winds during yesterday’s hailstorm.

The roof section that was damaged was over the Wonderland coffee shop and Crossfit KUZA 032 gym.

The church’s auditorium was not affected however church was cancelled today.

No one was injured.

Linc poster this message on their Facebook wall: “Due to the storms we have been experiencing along the coast today our building has taken damage from the high wind. Please help us by sharing the word. This is an opportunity for us to be the Church and go out and encourage others, visit another great church in the area and bless those around you. Every set back is an opportunity for great success! #YouAreTheChurch

The storm pelted the Durban and North Coast region with hail, a rare occurrence for this area, damaging cars and the high winds toppled numerous trees.

A mother and daughter had to be rescued when a massive branch landed on their car just outside Shakaskraal.
