UPDATE: Protest situation in Isithebe worsens

Isithebe protesters are burning more cars and factories.

The protest in Isithebe is getting worse with more factories and cars being set alight according to Mandeni Business Against Crime’s Steve Fox who is at the scene.

Since 1am this morning the protesters blocked roads with burning objects and stoned buildings.

Fox said the reason for the protest is unclear.

“It was thought, said Fox, residents were still protesting about the two, newly appointed indunas, elected by the chief.  However, it is possibly to do with the new demarcations, but this still has to be confirmed.”
