Every day the mayor of KwaDukuza receives numerous emails and letters from the public that he “makes a point to go through on a daily basis”, but on Wednesday he received something so extraordinary that he notified the media.
The chief executive officer of SAFEPRO, a local training institution which specializes in occupational health and safety systems, wrote to mayor Ricardo Mthembu pledging to provide R 1.9 million to provide bursaries for 100 people over the next three years.
In his letter Richard Ponnadu said they would “consider it a privilege and believe that it is our responsibility to educate and train the people of our community“.
“The bursary is open to all the wards in our district, and comprises a comprehensive safety, health, environment and risk management course.”
