Workers hand over memorandum to Group Five

Peaceful march held at the power plant construction site in Shakaskraal.

Around 250 former employees of Group Five, marched towards the Avon peaking Power Plant in Shakaskraal on Wednesday morning.

There was a heavy police presence when the workers handed over a memorandum to Group Five, who now have seven days to respond to their demands.

They marched down the road and tried to get closer to the construction site, but their leaders convinced the mob to stay calm.

The workers were fired in July and have since staged protests at the plant, demanding they be reinstated.

However, Group Five decided to stick to their guns and not give in to the workers.
