Support fund for Shaka’s Head families

Fund to support families who lost the breadwinners of their household in taxi accident.

The North Coast community has pulled together after the tragic accident at Shaka’s Head and have sent out messages of support all over social media.

Residents were shocked and saddened after 16 people lost their lives when a train hit a taxi that crashed onto the railway line on Monday, August 18.

Ryan Moonsamy commented on the Courier Facebook page along with many others and sent out a prayer to the affected families.

This is definitely one of the saddest days in our North Coast history. Rest in peace my fellow men and women,” said Moonsamy.

Tanya de Vos commented and echoed the sadness of the community who described it as a tragedy.

“My heart goes out to all the families that have lost loved ones,” said De Vos.

The Ilembe Chamber has set up a support fund for the dependents of the people that have lost their lives in the tragic accident.

All businesses and members of the public are encouraged to contribute to the fund, which will be jointly administered with C&H Accounting.

The Chamber also commits to make a contribution to the fund.
