Shaka’s Head death toll at 16

Critically injured patient died in hospital.

Another person died after the accident at Shaka’s Head when a taxi plunged down the embankment, landed on the railway line and was hit by a train on Monday, August 18.

Initial reports were that 15 people died, one was critically injured and four others suffered moderate injuries.

The critically injured patient died at Stanger hospital in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The KZN department of transport said the accident will be investigated.
