Weather warning for the weekend

Please be careful this weekend as heavy rains and strong winds are expected.

The South African Weather Service have issued a warning for heavy rains over the weekend.

In light of this warning, KwaDukuza Municipality have sent out the following points to keep in mind:

1. Power outages should be expected over the weekend. For general enquiries in this regard, please call 032 551 3413

2. Electricity poles and cables may be blown over by heavy winds. If these are down, the connections should be treated as live and should not be touched by anyone. Report it to the Emergency Services Call Centre on 032 946 2711.

3. Parents should look after their children and should not let them play in the streams as they may slip and be washed away.

4. People crossing rivers and streams should do so with caution as heavy rains may cause sudden swelling of the streams and rivers and cause drownings.

5. In case of any disaster situation, please report it to your ward councillor or the ward committee. Alternatively report to the Emergency Services Call Centre on 032 946 2711.
