KwaDukuza adopts R1.5bn budget

Council majority adopts the new budget.

KwaDukuza Municipality will be spending R 1.5 Billion in the 2015/2016 financial year, beginning in July.

This follows the adoption of the budget by Council majority during the State of the Municipality Address that was delivered by KwaDukuza Mayor Ricardo Mthembu on July 4.

The Council sitting was convened at the Chief Albert Luthuli Museum in Groutville, KwaDukuza.

“It is a fitting tribute that we convene this Special Council sitting at this National Museum which was once a house where the architects of the South Africa we continue to build, met to strategize how the struggle for national emancipation should be prosecuted. The alliances and personal relationships between Chief Albert Luthuli, Oliver Tambo, Nelson Mandela and the progressive leaders of the world were forged in the crucible of that struggle. This venue remains an important monument in the history of our country and humanity at large. It was during the leadership of Chief Luthuli that the People’s Army, uMkhonto weSizwe was formed,” said Mthembu.
