Local councillor elected as party chairman

Councillor promises that KwaDukuza will still be his top priority.

Pastor Nel Sewraj, a local councillor for the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) was recently elected as chairman of the provincial executive committee of the party.

He was elected unopposed at the ACDP’s provincial council meeting which was held last Saturday, March 7 in the Pinetown Municipal Council Chambers.

His nomination which was proposed by the party’s KwaDukuza branches was unanimously accepted by all KZN branches present.

Sewraj replaces outgoing chairperson from Vryheid, Hardus Koekemoer.

“Although I will serve the ACDP in this provincial capacity, KwaDukuza is still my top priority. I do not intend to neglect my local responsibilities as a councillor at KDM. This municipality is growing fast and so is the demand for services. As KDM distributes resources I must ensure that it operates fairly and ethically,” said Sewraj after his appointment as chairman.
