Warnings of severe winds and high ocean swells have been issued for the North Coast today.
The Ethekwini Municipality’s emergency control and disaster management unit has issued a warning and the South African Weather Service confirms forecasted winds of up to 70km/h and four to five meter high swells.
Severe winds may cause damage to structures and blow over trees, leading to traffic congestion. Rough seas may pose a threat to bathers and surfers.
All residents are advised to be cautious and stay indoors as much a possible. Residents of informal settlements are advised to secure roof sheets with extra weight and by tacking the roof with extra nails.
The South African Weather Service forecasts improved weather conditions for tomorrow.
