A smooth ride for Tinley Manor

Face-lift for notorious road.

One of the worst roads in the KwaDukuza municipality is finally getting the face-lift it deserves.

The link road between Shakaskraal and the N2, running through Tinley Manor, is notorious for gaping potholes and its crumbling surface.

The resurfacing project on the P467 began in July and is already about a third complete.

The Courier took a drive through Tinley Manor with ward 22 councillor Malcolm Hubner last week, while he showed off the smooth new surface.

“I am so glad it is finally getting some attention.”

Local company Crossmoor Construction and Newcastle-based Klus Civils began resurfacing at opposite ends. The contractors are using special machinery to pull up the existing surface and re-use the gravel for the new road. A layer of tar is then rolled over. Resurfacing is done in 3,5km stretches and 20 jobs have been created so far.

Hubner thanked the community for their patience and asked that it continue during the stop-go traffic.
