Siza Water scoops top award

Awarded for having the best waste water treatment works.

One of Sembcorp Siza Water’s projects has received a prestigious award, achieving third place in the country.

The Frasers waste water treatment works was awarded the Wilson iSigidi Award by the Water Institute of South Africa (WISA), in the best waste water treatment works category, for treatment plants with a capacity of less than 25 million litres per day. The award is given out every two years based on criteria including operating efficiency, plant maintenance, laboratory control, development and improvement of the waste water treatment plant, safety, professionalism and public relations and general appearance and impressions.

The Shakaskraal waste water treatment works was adjudicated on the same criteria and received a commendation as one of the “most improved waste water works” in South Africa.

Ilembe district technical services director Notha Maphumulo said receiving the award was exciting.

“We are going to carry on working hard to take care of our waste water treatment plants, for us to continue to improve in the future.”

Sembcorp Siza Water managing director, Shyam Misra stated: “We are proud to have maintained a high standard of waste water treatment and have our efforts recognised by the various sector institutions. It is indeed wonderful to gain the respect and accolades in our industry.”
