DA leads in three Stanger wards

No incidents on election day in Stanger.

The DA is currently leading the pack in the Stanger Manor area, with 66% (national) and 65,81% (provincially) of the vote in ward 16 and 61,50% (national) and 60,14% (provincial) in ward 17.

In Glenhills the DA is just pipping the ANC with 47.74% (national) and 47,12 % (provincial) of the 3462 votes cast.

The ANC however is in the lead in ward 19 with 78.01% (national) and 77.14% (provincial).

The fifth democratic election passed by relatively quietly in Stanger and surrounds yesterday.

Most voters commented on the improved organisation, with many voting stations separating booths by surname to decrease waiting time.

DA-strongholds wards 16 (Stanger Manor) and neighbouring 17 (Stanger Manor, High Ridge, Monkey Town) were awash with blue while the ANC’s bright yellow dominated King Shaka Street in ward 19.

Of 4 863 registered voters, 2885 valid votes were cast in ward 17. Slightly more than half the 4 036 registered voters in ward 16 cast valid votes. Ward 19 had a pleasing voter turnout of 3884 valid votes – with 4930 registered voters.
