Dankeschön from Nkobongo

A generous donation from Germany was given to Nkobongo’s St Vincent de Paul’s care centre.

Nkobongo’s St Vincent de Paul’s care centre received a generous donation all the way from Germany last Wednesday morning.
Thanks to the work of an ex-South African, Jeanette Boszczyk, the care centre was given a R115 000 donation.
The funds will be used for the centre, which feeds over 200 of Nkobongo’s poor and needy people on Mondays and Wednesdays every week. The centre also has a clinic which looks after those who cannot afford medical care.
St Vincent de Paul’s Society’s treasurer Penny Coelen Rey took Boszczyk to visit Nkobongo a number of times while she was on holiday in South Africa.
Since then Boszczyk has been dedicated to helping the society’s care centre in the township and hosted numerous fund raisers in Europe. A recent fundraiser at the Munchen Beer Garden saw over 70 people support the function and buy raffle tickets to raise funds.
“We are very grateful to our German benefactors. The hard work they have done really goes a long way,” said society chairman Ken Deeves.
Coelen Rey was amazed at the generosity of all those who made the donation possible.
“The people are so trusting of Boszczyk, for all they know the money could go anywhere. We hope that this shows them exactly who and what their money is helping,” she said.
