New delegates were appointed at the ward six DA branch meeting at the Ballito Library on December 18.
Malcolm Hubner will once again chair the branch and had a few words to say after his nomination. He was mainly concerned with people’s apathy towards attending smaller meetings and their lack of involvement in dealing with issues.
“I would appeal for members to get more people here and to change their attitudes.
“A lot of people have plenty to say about how the area is run but are slow to come out and show numbers and support,” he said.
Hubner was however, full of praise for the work of some.
“It is wonderful to see that the Dolphin Coast Ratepayers and Residents Association (DOCRRA) and the DA have come together and we are seeing the benefits of  us working side by side with them.”
He also warned against the party falling into complacency and encouraged members to work towards being a collective unit.
“We must sit here as the DA and be proud of who we are and what we do.”
New delegates elected were vice chairman Tommy du Toit, Sylvia Bowden, Renesh Naidu, Liz Chambers, Kevin de Kok and Peter Chambers.
Councillor Colin Marsh also encouraged residents to register to vote. There will be another opportunity to register on February 8 and 9.
