It’s not too late for change, says Democratic Alliance

"This election is a trial run for us to make sure we get voters registered and energised."

One SA for all is the slogan DA politicians were standing behind as they rolled out their election campaign on the Dolphin Coast recently.

DA Ilembe constituency head Dean Macpherson said their goal for this election was to bring the ANC vote under 50 percent in Ilembe, he told a launch meeting at Meander Manor in Chaka’s Rock.

“This election is a trial run for us to make sure we get voters registered and energised.

“We urge everyone to cast their vote as this is your only chance to have a say,” said Macpherson.

“We are going to take on the battles of the region be it abolishing paid parking or the real breakdown of law and order that is costing businesses R100 million a day due to protests in Isithebe.”

DA member of parliament Geordin Hill-Lewis urged voters to think about what future they will be voting for when they make their mark on May 8.

“We have to determine whether we are going to be a true multi-cultural and multi-faith government lead country or continue with an exclusive party where chances to improve yourself are reserved for the better connected. That is not the future we want to pursue.

“We are not a country for the politically elite who look after their friends. We want to be a country where everyone is valued and has a contribution to make, where your family can stay and thrive.”

He said the biggest crisis we face was unemployment which should be a top priority.

“About 53 percent of all job creation in the country came from the Western Cape over the last three years, which is governed by the DA. Our unemployment rate is under 20 percent at the moment and it will get even lower. We have done this by creating an ecosystem for growth, giving businesses an environment to do what they need to do to create jobs and grow the economy,” said Hill-Lewis.

“Government should work and serve you, the voter. Not the other way around. I have no doubt that when all the votes are cast we will see a result that is good for SA – a weaker ANC and a stronger DA.”
