What you need to know about the pay parking system

A feedback report was presented at KDM council yesterday, December 12. Following public protest, concessions have been made and further recommendations are under review.

A task team made of 12 community and business representatives has been formed to work with KwaDukuza municipality (KDM) to iron out issues and put forward recommendations regarding the new pay parking system.

The system introduced on November 1 imposed a charge of R6 per hour for public bays in the Ballito, Shakaskraal, Stanger and Umhlali CBD.

KDM officials are working with the service provider and the task team to negotiate pay parking concessions. The recommendations put forward and that are being discussed are:
