ANC in KwaDukuza hits back at opposition

ANC chairperson in the greater KwaDukuza region, Ricardo Mthembu said the motions were a waste of state funds that should rather be used for service delivery

Opposition parties owe the nation an apology – this according to the ANC in the greater KwaDukuza region, after the eighth failed no confidence motion against President Jacob Zuma this Tuesday.

ANC chairperson in the greater KwaDukuza region, Ricardo Mthembu, who on Tuesday led a  a march against calls for the president’s removal said the motions were a waste of state funds that should rather be used for service delivery.

“The speaker of Parliament must not allow another secret vote of no confidence against President Zuma.

“The work of Parliament should focus on service delivery as these motions are proving to be a waste of state funds, causing senseless instability and compromising service delivery, therefore, opposition parties owe a public apology to the nation.”

ANC chairperson and KDM mayor Ricardo Mthembu led a march in KwaDukuza against calls for the removal of Zuma.

Mthembu said attacks against the “people’s liberation movement should no longer be over looked.”

A total of 384 votes were cast during the debate.

177 MPs voted in favour of the motion of no confidence against the President while 198 voted against it. Nine MPs abstained from voting.

26 ANC MPs who are now considered “rebels” to the party, voted in favour of the motion.
