Mayor urges Ilembe to make a daily difference

Mayor Sduduzo Gumede donned the blue overalls and helped with the painting as part of his efforts for Mandela Day

Ilembe’s mayor put his tie and blazer aside recently and got down and dirty, helping to paint a new Early Childhood Development Centre in Maphumulo.

Mayor Sduduzo Gumede donned the blue overalls and helped with the painting as part of his efforts for Mandela Day.

“Imagine if we all did something that will benefit those around us every day? Wouldn’t the world be a better place?”

Gumede urged people to embrace the spirit of Mandela and support the less fortunate in the community to beat the scourge of poverty.

“The government of the day is a pro-poor government, with policies such as free primary healthcare, no-fee paying schools, provision of housing, and the provision of free water, electricity and sanitation helping to improve the lives of South Africans.

“Through our compassion and respect for each other, we can show our commitment in building a better society for all.”
