Ilembe Chamber and Ithala have joined hands to stop the unrest in Isithebe as it is a huge economic hub.
At a televised meeting, attended by MEC for Economic Development & Tourism, Michael Mabuyukhule in Darnall this afternoon with Isithebe factory owners, the ANC’s Sihle Zikalala said those arrested must be punished and cannot be released.
“It will be business as usual on Monday,” he said.
Police will stay in the area for the rest of the week and will be reinforced by 35 rapid intervention unit officers, 50 tactical response police officers and 35 public order police to beef up security in Isithebe by 6pm tonight.
A curfew at Isithebe has been suggested as a possible solution.
