A 29-year-old Ndwedwe man was arrested last Saturday for allegedly murdering his grandmother, Sbongile Vilakazi (70), by striking her with a hammer.
The suspect is also accused of attacking other family members, including his 77-year-old grandfather and father.
The incident reportedly occurred at the family’s home in Ndwedwe after a domestic dispute.
Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said the man was arrested on charges of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
“The grandmother was confirmed dead at the scene, while the others were taken to hospital for medical attention. He will appear in Ndwedwe Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Netshiunda.
