Illegal firearms arrests unmask alleged perpetrator in Ndwedwe
Firearms offense tied to murders and rape cases.
Three men wanted for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition were arrested in Ndwedwe last Thursday.
One of the men was also wanted for a murder and rape case in Ndwedwe and another murder in Tongaat.
According to Ndwedwe police spokesperson Sergeant Phindile Simamane, it is alleged the murder suspect approached a couple walking in the road at night in Ndedwe in September.
“An argument ensued and the suspect reportedly shot and killed the boyfriend, after which he forcibly took the woman into a nearby bush and raped her. Investigations are underway,” said Simamane.
The arrests were carried out by iLembe Crime Intelligence in collaboration with KZN Services Tactical Response Team.
