Police arrest 3 for brutal Tongaat murder and robbery

Ashveer Sukwa (35), was stabbed more than 30 times at his Fairbreeze home on Saib Place in Greylands, Tongaat.

Early this morning police handcuffed 3 suspects linked to the brutal murder of 35-year-old Tongaat businessman Ashveer Sukwa on Saturday.

Ashveer and his widower father Rajesh (65) were held-up at their home and both stabbed multiple times.

Ashveer was discovered wrapped in a bedsheet and blanket soaked with blood.

His father had been locked in the cold storage unit of their banana distribution business.

Rajesh was stabbed 4 times and was taken to hospital where he was reported to be in a stable condition in the intensive care unit.

Today the joint operation between members of the crime prevention unit, Saps detectives and private security led the team to search the Ndwedwe region.

Police arrested 2 suspects and discovered R 85 405 in cash.

An Okapi knife covered in blood stains was found in one of the suspects pockets.

A third suspect was traced to Upper Tongaat.

According to Captain Anirudh, who led the investigation, the suspects are allegedly employees of the victim.

Captain Anirudh commended the team that worked about the clock to make the arrests.

“Perpetrators need to know that we will not rest until they are brought to book.”
