WATCH: Protest against Mandeni mayor creates havoc

Protesters are marching to the Mandeni municipality.

About 250 disgruntled residents of Mandeni and Isithebe took to the streets this morning to protest against their mayor, Siphesihle Zulu, claiming that he was corrupt and demanding that he step down.

SAPS officers and firefighters spent the morning cleaning up after the protesters, who blocked one of the roads running through Isithebe with burning branches and rubble.

They are now making their way down the P459 to the Mandeni municipality to make their voices heard.

Police are on scene keeping the roads open.

Update to follow.
