Sheffield residents rescue woman from mugger

He leapt from his car in order to accost the would-be thief.

Quick thinking from a Sheffield couple saved a woman from becoming a victim of mugging this afternoon.
Brettenwood Estate resident Reghart Roets and his wife were driving along Sheffield Beach Road when he noticed a distressed woman running down the road not far from where the road meets the Salt Rock Main Road.
She was being chased by a man in his thirties who was reportedly trying to steal her handbag.
The couple sprung into action and Roets managed to jump out of the car, catch the man and hold him down until the police arrived almost half an hour later.
“Two other men stopped to help me and waited with the robber and I until Umhlali SAPS arrived and took him into custody.
“My wife drove after the woman who had still been running away and although she was shaken up, she is fine.”
