UPDATE: Missing baby found in Durban

After the search for the missing baby was called off yesterday,

The one-month-old baby who was taken in a hijacking in Durban on Friday has been found alive shortly after midnight this morning.

According to police, the baby’s mother Sibongile Mbambo and her eight-year-old daughter were forced out of their white Toyota Yaris by two armed men who then sped off with the infant inside the car.
The car was later found by police and security officers abandoned in Moodie Crescent, Montclair.

According to SAPS spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, a suspicious vehicle was stopped and searched at the Marianhill Toll Plaza on the N3 and baby Siwaphiwe was found inside the vehicle.

SAPS arrested one person believed to be involved in the hijacking.
