#BestofBallito: Mr Fix It still on top of the totem pole

Third win for Chapman Plumbing in the category Best Plumber.

Reliable, charitable and friendly, Barry Chapman has become as integral to the North Coast as plumbing is to your home.

Barry is a lifelong Ballito resident and has witnessed its growth first hand, matching it with his own growth from plumbing apprentice to business owner.

That foundation of hard work from Barry and his team saw Chapman Plumbing awarded with its third consecutive win in The North Coast Courier Best of Ballito Readers’ Choice Awards in the category of Best Plumber this year.

“We are so grateful for the constant support of the North Coast community and feel honoured to be their choice for Best Plumber once again,” said Barry.

“No business is one man alone and it is because of everyone on my team, from the ladies in the office to foremen and their teams, that we are able to provide consistent service for our clients.”

The ex-game ranger grew up with a love for the outdoors and said he loved the practical, problem-solving nature of his profession.

Barry joined Mac Mac Plumbing under the tutelage of his mentor, the late Hylton Ras, and the two later became 50% partners in Plumbing KZN.

He then started Chapman Plumbing and has grown from strength-to-strength ever since, now employing 40 people.

Under the Chapman Plumbing banner, there are three other businesses you may recognise, namely the Geyser Specialist, the Drain Specialist and the Leak Specialist.

Together the businesses offer solutions to almost any plumbing problem you may have, from fixing a simple tap washer to doing plumbing for major commercial projects.

“Whatever the level of plumbing you need, we make it happen!

“We also try to give back wherever possible and have done work for charities, wildlife organisations and local technical colleges,” said Barry, who spends most of his spare time in the wild as an Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife honorary ranger.
