The Gold Bar opens at Ballito Junction

Raising the bar in the gold-buying industry

Ballito residents can now sell their gold safely, privately and efficiently at a fair price without leaving town.

This since The Gold Bar opened a new store at the Ballito Junction on June 15.

The Gold Bar is a gold recycling company that purchases all old unwanted gold jewellery in addition to selling investment coins. With six stores around the country, The Gold Bar is fast becoming the preferred gold recycler.

“We pride ourselves in our honest, transparent interaction with our customers, hence the entire gold testing process is done in front of the customer,” said company executive officer, Sholain Perumal.

She said what made The Gold Bar different from other “cash for gold” stores is that they do not just offer a service but also build relationships.

“We care about our customers. We take time to listen to their stories behind the items,” said Perumal.

Coming from humble beginnings, she began her working career as a cashier at a Pick n Pay store and faced many obstacles along the way.

But her innate passion and determination to succeed has been the fuel behind her growth.

Gold buying industry mover and shaker, Sholain Perumal.

Amid her successes, Perumal’s philanthropic heart has inspired her to transform The Gold Bar into a vehicle for spreading charitable initiatives such as providing grocery hampers to those in need, care packs for abused women and children, as well as being actively involved in women and youth empowerment projects.

In that way, she said, when customers sell their jewellery to The Gold Bar they also contribute towards something bigger and being a part of a driving force for helping others.

“I am a CEO by trade but a philanthropist at heart. I was raised with the mindset of helping others. The values instilled in me by my parents go a long way to making me the philanthropic person I am today. My business enables me to give back to the community as I believe in changing the world one act of kindness at a time,” she said.

Perumal’s message to young people facing obstacles is to never give up.

“The journey is not always easy, but it is worth it. You will never know everything and that’s why learning is an ongoing process. Always upgrade your knowledge and skills and don’t be afraid to take a risk,” she said.

The Gold Bar at Ballito Junction is located at Shop 229A, Level 2, Entrance 1 (Checkers entrance)
