Boarding forms an integral part of life at Cowan House.
The school’s boarding product is unique and homely, where our boys and girls live in a secure environment conducive for learning and social interaction.
Cowan House is deeply committed to the welfare of its weekly and termly boarders, with a well-balanced support system in a fun-filled environment.
A full complement of boarding staff provides support and structure for our Grade 1 to Grade 7 boarders, while also ensuring they enjoy “family” fun.
This is particularly so during Wednesday family evenings and over weekends when boarders are engaged in activities on the school’s extensive grounds and off campus outings.
Cowan House families are also generous in hosting boarders for sleepovers and including them in outings or birthday parties over weekends.
Boarding in Grade 6 and 7 has proven to be a popular option for those who will be boarding in high school.
This preparation stands the school’s girls and boys in good stead in terms of developing greater independence through experiencing boarding in a small and homely, private school environment.
Each applicant joins us for a two-night boarding sleepover as part of our admissions process, where they share time with other boarders to enjoy the full experience.
This includes attending classrooms and participating in cultural and sport programmes.
