Pics: Celebrating Heritage Day on the beach

The Courier visited Thompson Bay and captured locals and holidaymakers enjoying the freedom of being on the beach.

North Coast beaches were crammed on Heritage Day, as much in celebration of the public holiday as the easing of lockdown after nearly 7 months of being cooped up in our homes.

While swimming was at your own risk in KwaDukuza until October, many beachgoers were willing to take the plunge.

The Courier visited Thompson Bay and captured locals and holidaymakers enjoying the freedom of being on the beach.

Pretoria residents Adam Louw and Christian Bezuidenhout were spending the long weekend in Ballito.

“Ballito is an amazing place, we usually come down here whenever we need to get peace of mind and the beaches are mind-blowing,” said Louw.
