Weather causing intermittent power outages on Dolphin Coast

Interruptions in the power supply have left many Dolphin Coasters pulling their hair out.

Electricity has been unreliable across the Dolphin Coast for the past week due to the severe weather.

KwaDukuza municipality technical services electrical engineer Nick Hall said they had constantly been on call, restoring power in one area, only for it to go off in another.

“We struggled for almost two days to get the electricity back on Compensation Road and as soon as we turned our focus to other areas it started tripping again.”

Hall said his men had been working nearly 24/7 since the gale force winds that lashed the coast on Saturday.

“Then last night (Thursday) we had some pretty severe lightning that has added to the problems.

“We have more than 250 km of overhead lines that need to be patrolled.”

Hall said that repairs were ongoing and asked the public to bear with them as they worked to return electricity to all affected areas.

The power outages have affected Tinley Manor, Ballito, Groutville and several other places along the North Coast.
