Reporting faulty street lights – all you need to know

Street lights often need to be repaired. For action to be taken as soon as possible, it's best to know who to contact.

Many Dolphin Coast residents have been left in the dark when it comes to reporting broken or faulty street lights.

In order for action to be taken as soon as possible, residents should either contact their relevant ward councillor or ward committee member to lodge the fault.

“Every ward councillor is part of a WhatsApp group in which reports of this nature are lodged and action from the relevant people can be taken,” said Ward 22 councillor Malcolm Hubner.

“Street lights are no longer linked and now run off individual day/night sensors. This means that in order for the repair team to know which light needs fixing, it is best if the resident provides the area, street address and nearest landmark to the light that needs to be repaired.”

Reports can either be sent directly to the relevant ward councillors / committee members, or in the case of ward 22 via the Sheffield Beach and Salt Rock Community Forum on Facebook.

Residents can contact Malcolm Hubner (083 250 9787), Tammy Colley (082 894 7808) or Tommy du Toit (082 563 7221), or visit the Salt Rock Municipal Office.
