KDM mayor launches campaign against abuse of municipal officials

"No one at any level deserves emotional distress - especially that which is inflicted by social partners and role-players” - Mayor Ricardo Mthembu

KwaDukuza mayor Ricardo Mthembu will  launch an historic offensive on Friday, November 4 in response to irate community members who have reportedly committed countless acts of abuse against officials appointed by the state.

There will be a march from Ballito Village Spar (Sandra Road, beachfront) to Ballito Lifestyle intersection tomorrow from 11am.

Council will hold a brief community meeting after the march as part of the official launch of the programme.

“Council has invited various groups to stand in solidarity with employees in condemning aggressive behaviour against officials, as most of these incidences have proven to be closely related to human indignity, disrespect and the violation of their rights as stipulated in the Constitutional Bill of Rights,”  said municipal spokesperson Sifiso Zulu.

“We want to sound a call for social cohesion and community welfare, so that positive relationships are enhanced between municipalities, ratepayers and other stakeholders.

“No one at any level deserves emotional distress – especially that which is inflicted by social partners and role-players”, said Mthembu.

On this occasion, Mthembu will hand-over a memorandum to the SAPS so that they may take the necessary steps against those who abuse  state employees through emotional intimidation.
