Voter registration on a roll

KwaDukuza Mayor, Ricardo Mthembu urges those who qualify to register to vote.

KwaDukuza mayor, Ricardo Mthembu and business owner and performer, Oscar “Dj Oskido” Mdlongwa call on all qualifying citizens to participate in the 2016 local government elections.

During their visit to four local schools on February 25, Mthembu and Oskido affirmed their support for the Independent Electoral Commission’s voter registration drive, encouraging all unregistered pupils to dedicate the weekend of March 5 and 6 and Apri 9 and 10 to voter registration.

Mthembu had earlier implored Oskido to help reduce the number of pupils at local high schools who did not have a full school uniform.

Oskido committed to make available 40 uniforms, topping-up the 900 full uniforms that council has delivered within the past four years.

“Voting is the most important way to make your voice heard on matters and other issues of concern to you and because we are in a democratic country, your view is important for government spheres to provide adequate healthcare services, housing, education, fairer taxation, employment, improve amenities, better roads and transport infrastructure”, they said in a joint statement.
