Millions invested in Madundube road upgrade

The road upgrade includes the installation of street lights, drainage systems, guard-rails for pedestrians and road markings.

KwaDukuza Municipality announced its plans yesterday, February 16, for the upgrade of a 3.25 kilometre stretch of road in the Madundube area that will cost the council a hefty R15.7 million.
Municipal communications officer, Sphelelo Ngobese said this investment is an historic moment for the underdeveloped area because of what the road will offer people in the communuty.
“This investment will create jobs, beef-up the local economy and provide easy access to key points of entry in the rural sections of Madundube, which is a growing settlement in KwaDukuza,” said Ngobese.
He added that the upgrade is part of the municipality’s integrated development plan to improve service delivery to meet the needs expressed by communities within KwaDukuza.
The installation of street lights, drainage systems, guard-rails for pedestrians and road markings has also been promised as part of the road upgrade to improve the local infrastructure for residents of Madundube.
Ngobese said the estimated time-frame for the completion of the upgrade is seven months and the project developers will be on site next week Monday, February 22 to begin the process.
