Mandeni mayor calls for unity

Municipality needs commitment from everyone to make it work.

According to Mandeni municipality mayor Sphesihle Zulu the municipality needs workers, traditional leaders and elected representatives who are committed to changing people’s lives.

At the municipal address and Back to Basics launch on Friday March 27 at Sibusisiwe Hall, Zulu further unpacked the municipal Back to Basics 16 months service delivery program, where he declared that all 17 wards will benefit from projects on the service delivery plan.

“The municipality has recruited more than five hundred young people for expanded works programme to assist to alleviate poverty,” said Zulu.

He said Mandeni will be able to plan pro-actively and increase capacity for local development and maintenance of the infrastructure, give attention to agricultural development for both alternative commercial agricultural products as well as small scale local economic production and have the ability to attract investors through social facilities and amenities within the municipality.

“This will be the way to the attainment of vision 2030 which says ‘to be a reliable people centered and sustainable economic hub’,” said Zulu.

He applauded the opposition parties and members of the ruling party for their willingness to work together in Mandeni.
