Police seize 15 firearms in Zimbali Estate
Security company under scrutiny for compliance.
Police seized 15 firearms and ammunition from a security company in Zimbali last Thursday following a random search.
“Discrepancies were identified during the inspection, leading to the confiscation of the firearms and ammunition. These items will be returned once the company complies with the law,” said police spokesperson, colonel Robert Netshiunda.
Zimbali Estate’s communications manager, Shannon Vermaak, confirmed police visited the estate to conduct a compliance inspection under the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000.
She emphasised their obligation to cooperate with authorities when proper documentation is provided.
“A resident was taken to the police station for questioning and returned the same day. We cannot confirm whether the firearms removed were legal or illegal, as we do not have access to that information,” said Vermaak.
