Seven KwaDukuza factory shops to visit if you want to slay on a budget

Stanger is a bustling little town and everyone is hustling to make a living.

Looking good does not have to cost the earth.

We hit the steets of KwaDukuza to check out the factory shops for the best bargains in town.

Stanger is a bustling little town and everyone is hustling to make a living. There are three main streets to focus on when shopping – Chief Albert Luthuli, King Shaka and Hullet Street.

Before you step inside to work on your summer slaying efforts, spare a moment for the street vendors where everything from a quick shoe repair to roasting mielies and fresh vegetables are on sale.

While many of the shops stock similar wares, many also have niche items, from those stocking traditional African wear for special occasions to summer dresses and fashion-fast items.

Here’s a plug for seven stores to visit if you want to do it right this season.

1. Shorty’s

At Shorty’s virtually everything is on sale.

This store seems to be a local favourite, and when I walked in I understood why.

The prices are ridiculously low. I managed to put together an entire outfit – shoes, bag, top and shorts for under R200.

Located on Chief Albert Luthuli Street, Shorty’s is a one-stop shop for a shopaholic like me. They currently have a wide range of clothes on sale for both men and women.

2. Garment Division

The Garment Division skort and blazer were added to my wish list.

Entering this store on Hullet Street, I felt like a kid in a candy store. Not only do they offer a variety of clothing options for children, men and women, but the prices are incredibly affordable.

They stock everything one will need in the wardrobe, though wide-leg jeans lovers might be disappointed.

I found beautiful formal blazers for just R160 and trendy skorts for as little as R85. Whether you’re a classy woman, a slaying mom, or a Gen Z person, you’ll find something perfect here.

This vibrant blazer’s price tag at Garment Division was only R160.

3. Bereka Fashion

Located in Hullet Street, Bereka Fasshion is a true gem. Where else can you find jackets for under R200? Bereka Fashion is also your go-to when you want to stock up on pants. They have skinny and wide-leg jeans, offering a variety of options.

Some cool and affordable jackets are available at Bereka Fashion.

4. Duguza Bait and Tackle

Cool T-shirts at Duguza Bait and Tackle.

While the store’s name might throw you off if you aren’t in the know, this is actually a great little clothing store on Hulett Street.

Duguza Bait and Tackle is a perfect find to stock up on gorgeous summer dresses, starting from just R50. A rare find of wide-leg pants in white with black stripes was the highlight of my day.

Duguza Bait and Tackle’s R150 jeans were a unique find.

5. Heleye Trading

Heleye Trading offers a variety of options.

Heleye Trading in King Shaka Street is a must-visit for dress lovers. Their dresses start at R60 and are all very fashionable.

The vibrant colours scream summer, and it will be wise to stock up while supplies last. However, my petite and short frame put me at a disadvantage because I couldn’t find my size. Dress sizes start from S-XXL, there were no XXS for people like me.

The Bright orange dress from Heleye Trading sold for just R65.

6. Glit and Glamour

In-season clog sliders

The home of in-season cargo pants starting at R150, Glit and Glamour in King Shaka Street is the place to find trendy items to die for. There is a variety of in-season clog sliders in-store selling for R85 as well.

7. F. Gala’s Fashion

This dress from F. Gala’s Fashion was selling for R180, a perfect pick for date night.

This store in Hullet Street is a treasure if you are looking for Shein items. If you’ve seen it online, you’ll find it in Stanger. This is the store to visit when you have a date night or a formal ceremony to attend.
