Runners brave rain for scenic Blythedale trail run
More than 160 runners tackled the run on a rainy Sunday, hosted by KZN Trail Running.
More than 160 runners braved a rainy morning to take on the beautiful Blythedale Trail Run on Sunday.
Hosted by KZN Trail Running, the Blythedale event was the second and last on the North Coast this year following a run in Sheffield in January.
Runners had the opportunity to take on 5km, 11km or 17km routes, which saw them make their way through coastal forest strips with some excellent beachfront vistas throughout the course.
And despite cloudy conditions, spirits were sunny throughout the morning as the athletes delivered some good times to boot.
Mncedisi Mtsheh ran a blistering 1:21:30 to claim the overall 17km honours, with Suzanne Schaeman topping the 17km women’s leaderboard in 1:53:38.
Dominic Furby took the 11km victory in 1:01:58 and Maxine Botha earned the top women’s spot in 1:07:44.
Rounding out the winners on the day were Andile Ndaba (29:01) and Kyra-Leigh Cooper-Reed (34:14) in the 5km event.
